I will agree with them that the originals of movies may have been good for there time but Im not goin any further to say that they are better than what we have now.
The Titanic was a great film. The old and new one, but its rubbish to say that the original was better than the remake. I will admit that without the original the remake may have been a little worse than it is now but still it doesnt justify the fact that the original sucks in comparison to the new and improved.
The count of Monte cristo was a great film but its story wasnt as good as the original. Even with this setback it made up for it with a great cast and action scenes.
Spiderman, the series and the original movie, sucked beyond belief until the movie came out to reclaim the faim. But still people say that the original was great in comparison to the new series of spiderman movies. Have they seen the new ones?
I beg all those that are out there to just stop saying the originals are better and that wev run out of ideas for more movies because its just not true. We keep gettin new movies and reinventing old ones to make them better. So just sit back put on the originals if you want and wait for the new Superman movie to come out

> Assault on Precinct 13
This one hurts me the most.
The original was fantastic. There was acting in it rather than WOW BIG GUNZ and OMGZ EXPLOZIONZ
And they're remaking The Hitcher as well apparently.
I bet you all the money in the world it's utterly dreadful by any movie's standards, let alone in comparison the the excellent Hauer original

The original Dukes of Hazzard was a two-bit redneck fest for idiots, why there decided to be a remake made I have no idea. Isn't there any originality around anymore?
> was'nt really a remake, was a new chapter in the Alien story.
Ouch. That's harsh. It's a fanboys ham fisted attempt at making a movie.
Having said that, I got more enjoyment out of AvP, simply because Alien Ressurection was such a crushing disappointment, and I knew AvP was going to suck ass.
The Alien franchise should be jump started by abandoning the Ripley character (much as I love sigorney).
The Navigator's race from the first seeding worlds would be a nice start.
Oh, there was take of a Species / Alien crossover, but it would have been frighteningly expensive to film.
Remakes do tend to be rubbish, but it figures, who wants to remake a film they disliked? when really, that would actually make more sense.
It's like if someone remakes The Matrix (or any classic film from recent times) in 30 years time; granted it would have better special effects but thats it. It would seem wrong having a different cast, and in most cases with remakes the story changes too in an attempt to make the film fresh.
I dont really see the point of remakes, its not as though all copies of the original have been destroyed and the story will be lost forever. And the argument of SFX is a dead end, because if the film relied on them then it probably has a crap story. Think original Alien vs Alien Resurection. The special effects didnt help there, did they?
The Haunting
The Longest Yard
Rollerball
Stepford Wives
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Vanishing
Planet of the apes
Get Cater
Assault on Precinct 13
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Alfie
The Starsky and Hutch movie was dire, and the Dukes of Hazzard is getting appaling reviews.
For every one remake better than the original, there's a pile of dirge that isn't.
Lord help me for the Wicker man remake.
I'll condede that Batman Begins is far superior to any Joel Schumacher abortion though.

Original Psycho vs Gus Van Saints remake = Your statement "wrong every time" destroyed without even trying.
Sometimes remakes (of movies) are better. It doesn't happen often though.
