Is the human race here for a short period of time?

I mean look at the dinosaurs, they existed for millions of years, the earth has developed and has just happened to be home to alot of species over the many billions of years it has been in existence. Is the human race merely going to be here for 50,00 years and then be wiped out. Or will the humans species be the only one cleverer enough to survive being wiped out by a nutaural attack or mabye we will cause a wipe out; i.e. Nuclear war!

How long will us humans be on earth for, or do we not have an unlimited amount of time. Obviously, we can only remain on earth whilst it is a temperate planet, but wwn the sun gets hotter we will have to leave our home planet to another temperate planet.

Could the human species be wiped out just as the dodos, dinosaurs, etc were, by factors outside there control.

The Dinosaurs existed from 240 to 65 Million Years ago as they were a series of species, which kept on adapting, each of which can't have been around for more than a few million years each, as we will keep evolving, unless something is done to stop the earth killing us as a result of our actions killing it.

It's a matter of adaptability, and adapting to change, whether the powers that be decide to make a difference is another matter! You have to remember, previously no single species has become as dominant or advanced as us.

The Sun will burn up its nuclear fuel and expand to an enormous size, finally engulfing its inner planets including Earth.

As their hydrogen fuel runs out at the end of their 'lives', stars like the Sun expand to become a red supergiant of several hundred times their initial diameter. Most astronomers expect the solar red supergiant to swallow Mercury, Venus and then Earth in about 7.5 billion years' time(So you've got time 2 go 2 the shops), when it has expanded beyond the orbit of our planet.

So The sun will expand and engulf earth. But Earth may survive after all, say the Sussex astronomers, if an important extra detail is considered: the ongoing loss of mass and weakening gravity while a star is a red supergiant.

Taking this into account, the orbit of the Earth would increase beyond the Sun's outer atmosphere by a small but crucial margin at all phases of the Sun's evolution - allowing our planet to continue.

This is wot i meant!
This is real and accurate scinetific data.

Well, we have learned that in about 1 million years (if we haven't already wiped ourselves out by pollution or global warming or some stupid war) the sun will burn out, and we will all freeze to death. We have also learned that there is no chance of the sun getting hotter, did you mean when then O-zone layer is thinning or the sun actually getting hotter?
