Just got the Sims 2 and i've installed it, that bit is no problem, however now when i try to actually play the game the Sims 2 screen pops up then a message pops up saying something about can't read the disc, application error.

Does it need patching at all? Try looking for a patch before you give some spotty Game shop employee the worst bolloxing of his life
I can only guess (and judging by the post time you've probably fixed it), but!...
1. Try reinstalling it, just to make sure everything is as it should be.
2. If it persists, sounds like you've got a dodgy disc - take it back to whence it came, slam your hand on the counter, and demand a replacement in the name of all that is good and free ;)
