To be honest I've left the game for Donkey Konga and Pikmin 2.

No, it isn't designed for people who 'don't have a life'.
After upgrading my house to the max and setting up my own fruit farm business, all I do now is dedicate half an hour a day to keeping the town in order, buying more things from Nook and playing when events etc are on.
It's a very good game, but the amount of items you can carry is irritating as you seem to fill up very quickly, and the grahphics could have been better; although games like The Sims aren't visually outstanding. That's another debate though.
