I'm not into classical music in a big way, but there are a few pieces I love (and I use to test out my system with new speakers etc.).

A few bits I like:

Barber's Adagio for strings

Faure (sp?) - Pavane

Andrea Bocelli - Con Te Partiro (amazing vocals, and reminds me of Sopranos)

Duetto Sul'Aria from Marriage of Figaro (thanks tnc and Timmargh)

and some other stuff I can't really think of now at work.

Anyone have any other recommendations? Don't be shy, they can be from adverts and films too :)

Adagio for strings is good.

I think Green Sleeves might be good but I've forgotten what it sounds like.

There are a lot of classic pieces that I absolutely adore, however I have no idea what any of them are called. One of them was used in the intestine level in Earthworm Jim 2 (weird reference, I know).

If anyone knows what it is, I'll pleasure you forever if you tell me.

Carmina Burana - Orf
Symphony No.3 - Gorecki
Faure - Requiem (one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've heard)
Alina - Arvo Part

**edit**
Gorecki still wins hands down for my favourite piece ever though, heard it one night on Radio 4 as I was driving home and had to sit in the car until it had finished and I learned who it was and the name of the piece.
Go get it and listen to the whole thing in sequence, astonishing:

Symphony No.3
1. Lento - Sostenuto Tranquillo Ma Cantabile
2. Lento E Largo - Tranquillissimo - Cantabillissimo - Dolcissimo Legatissimo
3. Lento - Cantabile Semplice Opus 36

Clare De Lune. Just because I was introduced to it because of Ocean's Eleven doesn't make it any less worthy.

Ha, you're recommending exactly the type I like - slower, more sparse stuff.

Clare De Lune is really nice, I've just heard that Gorecki and it's fantastic, i love it, but I only heard a 4 minute section and I really want to hear the rest. Perhaps you could help me out Goatboy?

Greensleeves just reminds me of schoolkids learning to play the guitar - shame, but it's ruined it for me.

Albino-Man, maybe it's Moonlight Sonata from Earthworm Jim? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0366396/. I never knew IMDB did games? :/

Now I've got Winamp here I can also recommend Bach's Air for G String (g-string, hur hur), and Beethoven's Fur Elise.

Don't you have to be at work in a few hours? You should stop staying up so late.

Yes Mum.

Nah, I'm an evening person. I enjoy them too much to waste them with sleep.
