Well, after putting up with supporting my hefty frame for around 7 years (note: not continuously), my chair is finally on its last legs. The padding on the seat has given up, and one of the bolts holding the left arm has just sheared off.

Time for a new one!

I've been looking around for something suitable, but everyone seems to be charging silly prices. Even the cheapest are around £80. You want arms too? That'll be another £20 please!

So... anyone know where toget a decent seat at a relatively low price?

Must have: Castors, arms, gas lift, high back. Must be fabric, too - no yucky sweaty leather or PVC.

Good, because Garfield loves you, in a strictly non-relationship type way

Wow your own private army of Seal-ants

They have flippers and pincers ... well, that certainly distracted me for no reason other than Coffee has now overtaken blood in my system for the main supplier

Anywhom, a shop near me is having a closing down sale and chairs are going cheaply. The trouble is you aren't going to want to motor halfway across England to contemplate some chairs

I'd recommend markets but even, surprisingly, Second hand/antique shops, which is where I got my chair - nice car-seat material (which is ?) and a gas operated up/down switch. It doesn't have arms but is a backed swivel-chair

Indeed.

Split rubber can only end in trouble!

Probably, you'd need some decent sealant (sp?) though.

Comfy.

Can they be modified to fit castors and a swivel mechanism? :-)

Already looked.

eBay is rubbish for chairs - many more expensive than retail outlets!
