I have been a regular PS2 player for the last couple of years or so and now I want to try LAN enabled games so that I can play against my son at home. We don't need to go out to the internet.
We have a PS2 console and a network adapter each. We can play timesplitters 2 together without having to go to the internet. This is achieved by playing across our small 2-person LAN.
However, I just bought Destruction Derby arenas (with network play) but we cannot do this as we must go on to the internet !!!
Therefore,
Does anyone have a list of games that we can truly play across our 2-man LAN ? We do not have the PS2 consoles that have the i.link cable so we're only interested in LAN enabled games.
I'd be really grateful for a response.
Regards,
Shane

Net play means you can play it online.
If you could explain your setup more precisely it would help.
Each of our consoles has a network adapter in the HDD bay. I have connected an RJ45 straight-through cable from each console to a central hub.
We have two copies of Time Splitters 2. We can setup a LAN game so that just the two of us are playing Deathmatch and we don't have to go online onto the internet.
This is fine. However, when I try the same set up but using Destruction Derby Arenas instead of Time Splitters 2, when we select network option the game makes me have to go online into the internet. All I want to do is race my son in our 2-person LAN without the need for going online.
So, what games exist at the moment that allow just me and my son to play against each other (in exactly the same manner as you can with i.link though remember that i.link games are irrelevent for us).
It appears that there are THREE types of capability possible in a game:
1) i.link games (you must have the i.link connector on the front of the console)
2) Games that you play over the internet
3) LAN games (internal network as we have)

Since its only you and your son.
IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!
Sensible answers usually help.
Buggered if I know.
How did you set up TS2?
