My missus has got a PC with this motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-7VKMLS

It has an on board graphics chip.

I want to put in a 3D card. But it has no AGP slot. Will it be able to handle these PCI x2 cards or whatever they're called? (I really haven't kept up to date with all this stuff since I left uni).

If it does (or does not) support this PCI express guff, could someone suggest a card that I could get? I'm on a bit of a budget, and I really only want it see eJay (ironically enough) doesn't run at about 1 fps....

Thanks very much!

that is woe.
we've sort of hijacked this thread.

My advice is: get whichever is cheaper.
A Radeon 9250 and Geforce FX5200 will offer practically identical performance anyway, so yeah. Cheap.

T2000 can't quite do sandbags

that is odd, but at least it's better than the geforce 4 graphics

Oh, it runs the game perfectly fine, some people just get weird texture errors occasionally. For most it's fine though.

What I want to know is why they even bother with AA in 2048x1536

Buy me a 7800 GTX sli

How can there be a benchmark if the card doesn't play the game?

hahaha selling the 7800, i'll give him £50, thing is that EA posted that list to cover themselves for when things like this happened, they can just go "it's not the the offically supported list"

Hopefully they will fix it with the next updates, i wish my 4800ti could play it :( then i could use 2 computers.

Example: the top three cards aren't on the list:

Now, for people on huge monitors with high native resolutions, are you honestly saying they should have stuck to the list and got a 6800 series?

EA doesn't support either company's flagship cards. 6800 chips aren't manufactured anymore, so consumers will have to get a 6600GT if they stick to the list, since none of the 7800 models are officially supported. The whole situation is really silly. When the EA guy said to sell the ultra-high end card in favour of a previous gen card I almost cried.

Yeah but the list is the currently supported cards EA were very clear about what would run and what might have problems, they will probably have to wait for the next patch or driver update.

Yeah, but BF2 isn't the only game in existence. A single 7800GTX is as fast as SLI 6800s for a fraction of the price. If people have large monitors and need to play at 1600x1200 and above it's silly to buy anything other than the fastest card available. The game is 'supposed' to be played on nvidia cards, yet EA apparently don't allow you to buy nvidia's fastest card. That's just retarded. If someone has £340 to spend on a graphics card I don't see why they should buy a 6800 Ultra just because it's on the list. Considering the 7800 is about 40% faster for not that much more money, getting a slower card than you can afford is a stupid, stupid investment.

The point of that list was so that people knew if they would have problems running it or not buying outside that list is silly if you want to play BF2.

Nah it's the guys fault for not sticking to the list, that was why EA made it very clear which cards would work, it's stupid consumers.
