"SR Notable Election - Thurs 11th August"

It's about that time again.

Most of you know how it works by now, but for those who don't - every three months (or so ;)) we hold an election to promote one of our regular members to Notable status. Notable is a position to honour that user's contributions to UKchatforums.com - they don't get any further rights or abilities within the forum, but their status is changed and their name is written in gold to draw the eyes, respect and jealousy of the purple Regulars.

On the day (Thursday 11th August), an official thread will be started by a staffie (most likely me) where every Regular member and Notable will have one vote to cast for who they want to see elevated to such a lofty status. Newbies and JATs will be unable to vote I'm afraid.

Last election we also held a vote to demote someone from their position of notable back down to regular - while this went well, we've not yet decided whether to continue this new, possibly cruel addition to the elections. If you have any thoughts on this, let us know here and we'll make a decision before the day is due.

Til then, mark 11/8/05 in your diaries and make sure you're here for what may be the most important vote you'll ever make.

Mouldy Cheese might be worth voting up to a notable. His little random stories are bloody hilarious. Doesn't post very often unfortunately.

Ah, yes, I forget old Fluffy is a notable, Your Honour does some good stuff but I've never really followed it

Biggles always used to post very good and well constructed arguments in Gen Chat but then mysteriously left

He still posts quite a bit in FOG and Classic

I've never really seen any of Rosalind either ...

Your Honour and FFF are good as well. In fact, most of them are if you take out Snipes. And Biggles, I've hardly ever seen him post.

I like m_m, but he's still not 'up there' in my opinion

Sniper was one of the original 5 notables, along with Grix, Meka, F_M and...Sheepy, possibly? It was something like the first 5 people to get 5 votes got in.

So Sniper got in, for a joke or something.

And the monkey_man is OK. Posts a lot, is funny in a geek-way, and is generally good to chat to

I always wondered how RBS became a Notable. Anyway, the situation with FM sounds the same as with Sniper - they both pop their heads in (well TIF, as he's called now, posts a lot) but still they are going towards the vote

And, how did Sniper get in if he's so unpopular now ? He's never written or done anything which showed he was 'exceptional' or 'worthy' whereas people like Meka, Black Glove and er-no have written stories, Grix his mad ramblings and Goatboy just been that cynically amusing person that he is

m_m is a little average aswell ...

Yeah, but SonicRav was always rubbish and only got voted in because..well, I don't know why he got voted in.

I don't see F_M falling from the canopies just yet. He pops up occasionally, after all.

Not that I've ever actually talked to him. He did the majority of his posting before my time. The first notable election I saw was the one where pb and Wookiee both got lots of votes and Tony decided they could both be elected.

Also, I remember when someone won but Tony didn't like them that much so he made RBS a notable for the hell of it.

Slightly out of context though. In these viracious, Pirana invested Mangroves it's best to think of everyone in stages;

The Notables are sitting in the tree canopies
The Regulars are sitting, eying up the Notables in the bows of the Trees
The Newbs and JATs litter the floor

Now, everytime they see a weakness, they pounce, those with talent are brought down and then destroyed

The point of that was, many people have no reason to believe in FM, no-one has ever said anything about him to make them see otherwise (of the newer users) And people voted off SonicRav without a backwards glance

There should be respect for F_M, from all. I mean, most Christians have never seen Jesus around and they don't vote him off the Bible.

Well, FantasyMeister got a few votes last time, and is a good candidate. He may still be on but is a bit of a "who ?"

And I haven't seen any FM posting in AGES. The new-er Regs may also have their own opinions about who should go
