I have recently had a baby with my partner and his dad is claiming incapacity benefit. However i know that he works every sunday at a market and in my opinion is as fit as a fiddle.
I am completely against what he is doing and cheating money from all tax payers.
Should i tell the benefit fraud department or should i stay loyal to the "extended family".
You can work up to 16 hours a week before it affects benefits, so working on a Sunday is most likely perfectly okay.
However, if he is claiming incapacity benefit things may be different.
For example, if he is claiming for a bad back but is lugging around boxes of goods for the market, he is most likely conning the system somewhere along the line.
However, not all incapacity benefit is paid for physical symptoms. Do you know why you partner's dad claims it?
For example, to the average onlooker, my dad is perfectly fit and healthy for his age - yet he has not worked in over 20 years. Why? He had a nervous breakdown, and now suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, along with a few other problems resulting from the breakdown.
Congrats on the baby by the way.
