Smithy has been impressive in that role, you cannot base your judgement on 1 game (that was probably his first game in that role) however he has done well since and has recieved man of the match award whilst doing so. His style of play means he is well suited to playing in centre midfield.

I haven't seen him over the past 2,3 games. I only saw him against Peterborough and let's just say I wasn't impressed. If losing the ball to Barry Fry's son every time he had it qualifies him to be a midfielder then I'm in the wrong job...

Rubbish. The plan was that Man Utd would field their strongest side in the first half. If that's true, I'd be very worried as it was 0-0 at half time and they never looked like scoring.

Things only changed at half time when Ronaldo and Van Nistelhooorse came on and they got their goals due to poor defending rather than through the team playing well.

Alan Smith in midfield? That's a good one Fergie.

Rooney shooting every time he got the ball. Amusing.

Indeed, all we need now is for our strike force to get their act together and all will be well.

Though Park is looking impressive and Ronnie is tearing the defences to shreds with his fancy footwork. So at least our midfield is looking rosey
