I watched this last night.

Overall impressions, pretty good, but the plot was incredibly flawed.

Although I did not understand one bit of it....

*SPOILER*

Why did all the aliens die at the end? There was no real explanation why they were all shutting down, it all happened so quickly.

Thanks

The EMP thing damaged components and drained batteries - the car worked with a change of the solenoids and they put a new battery in, so there's no reason why a camcorder wouldn't work if they changed the batteries.

Aha. Makes no sense as I expected, but good enough.

They went into the cafe, cried a bit, then followed loads of people to a ferry to try and escape.

The ferry pulled off, but the tripods were residing underwater and it overturned the boat, hence why they was in the sea.

Aye.

It was flawed in many places, but it was still quite fun to watch.

But can someone tell me what happend when they went into the café after losing their car?

I got distracted for a bit after that and suddenly they were in a river or lake, which judging by the rest of the movie probably wouldn't have made much sense if I was watching, but I'd like to know 8-).

I swear one of them drank some water in the basement scene.

Ah, it's making sense now.

Cheers Savatt.

Although, I still think it could of been justified further, their death happened in the last like 5 minutes!

"Run away! We're all going to die!"
- "No wait, look, they're all going to die!"
"Oh, lol"
- "Attack them all!"
"Hey mum, Hey stepdad"
- "Hey Ra...Dad!"

THE END

Oh and, near the beginning, the EMP from the storms was meant to disable every electronic device around, right? So why was that blokes camcorder working?

Bah!

EDIT: Although, I did really enjoy this film, I'm a sucker for no brainer Alien flicks. The effects in this one were mind blowing.

6.5/10.

They died from bacteria. Because they come from another planet, their bodies weren't used to simple bacteria on this planet that we've been immune to for ages.

The Martians get bacteria in their system from feeding on our blood in the original story, while its bacteria carried in the air in the 1953 film. This film suggests it comes back to feeding and stuff, although you don't see them doing that.
