I was just thinking earlier what my favourite movie of all time is. Now of course, it's an impossible question to answer - so many genres for different moods, so many different films that are truly magnificent for different reasons. Initially, I thought, "probably Shawshank Redemption, or The Godfather perhaps".

And then I remembered.
What movie has Carradine as a character called Frankenstein? And Sly Stallone as someone called Machine Gun Joe?
And what film has Calamity Jane and Matilda the Hun (hohoho hilarious!)?

That's right.
Deathrace 2000

It's clearly the best movie of all time. Such a gloriously accurate prediction of the future.
It has been a few years since I've seen it, so I think I'm going to get it from somewhere and watch it again. And I suggest you do too. Because really, it has perhaps the greatest acting performances ever.

Every time I'm in the car and I see some old woman dottering across the road, this springs to mind.
Every time.
And I imagine this'll continue to happen for the rest of my life.

That's how monumental an effect this film has had on me, because it's so brilliant.

This thread should be stickied for sure.

According to this : http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/921126.asp?q=carmageddon there is one in the works, although there has been nothing else said since last november.

Carmageddon 2 was bloody brilliant.

That's the reason I bought the film. I think the cut scenes in Carmageddon were more interesting than Death Race 2000, complete waste of space and money.

They really should make a new Carmageddon game.

I gave up on Lovefilm and went over to Screenselect, their service went from excellent to utter garbage in the space of about a month. It's practically impossible to get any films other than the ones from the bottom of your list, with Lovefilm these days.

Screenselect however have been excellent so far.

Deathrace 2000 is a terrible film.

I bought it because I was really into Carmageddon at the time, and was interested to see what the film that inspired the game was like.

It cost me a fiver and I feel seriously ripped off. And I like David Carradine.

Oh christ! I had the pleasure of watching Aliens VS Predator a while back. A truely awful film, words cannot describe how bad and how much of a mockery Anderson makes of 2 of the greatest movie monsters. The scenes where the Predator is....ahhh I won't ruin the amazing storyline for you. It truely is astonishingly bad though, how someone can make such a bad movie from such excellent source material is beyond me.

I don't even want to imagine what he'll do with Death Race 2000. It was a gash film in the first place, but I can't see them getting away with any really graphic vehicular carnage in this day and age. The fact it's being done by Anderson means it's gonna stink even worse, why do they let this retarded spacker of a man direct films?

It's rubbish.

The interesting concept means that any remake should be good.
