Got a small windfall (some mate nearly killed me and wrote off my car)

got 5 grand I need to put into an ISA, I know you can only put up to 3 grand in one a year, but this money needs to go away for a house so I dont want to touch it for a few years yet.

Anyone know of the best ISAs out at the moment? and save me the hardship of brousing around our town?

thank you people!

Haha, how much did you originaly pay for the car?

Isn't it possible to get two ISA accounts and split the money between them both.

yeah, I will do that, just a case of finding the right ISAs to put it in.

I paid £7500 for a brand new Renault clio Dynamique, I had it just over 3 years and put 37000 miles on the clock

rolled it nose to tail twice and went through a sign and fence!

it might be a crappy car, but it saved my life!

anyways, I'm going for Alliance and leicester for my ISA at 5.4 % which isn't bad

probably equally crappy car http://img104.echo.cx/img104/6318/sportka1fs.jpg but it's quick for a 1.6! :-)

Okay. I put some money into a MaxiISA just before some git flew planes into the world trade centre. Maxi-ISAs are linked to the stock exchange, so naturally now my ISA is nearly worth what I put into it how ever many years ago that was. If you're prepared to risk that, and you know you're not going to touch it in five years or more that might be one option and it should return more than the normal guaranteed interest rate but safe as houses ISAs. Other than that you're just looking for the one with the highest interest rate. You can always put the other £2K in a high interest savings account until next year and then use that to top up your isa.

No no no, those are awful girly cars - aren't they EB?
Get one of these http://www.gearstick.co.uk/images/large/Peugeot_206_5door_03.jpg , I got one a couple weeks ago and those things hurtle along nicely.

Crappy?

It's an absolutely fantastic car.
Awfully quick as well.

It's no Avensis though. Damn company cars. Why can't I be 25!?
