There's the whole 24-hour stuff coming in though, like Asda stores are open 24 hours now.
Some shut at 4pm, some at 5pm, some at 5.30pm. Our local HSBC is going to be opening later to help people who work.
It's another bug-bear of this fair country of ours that shops, banks et al have to close at 5.30pm or 6pm, who thought that one up?
"Hey, lets make all the shops close when people come out of work, thus making it impossible for them to go shopping until the weekend."

As far as I know they shut at 4pm during the week and 12 on Saturdays.
