Are you seeing this? Jesus, this is the most amazing lightning storm I've ever seen in my life. Seriously just saw about 50 lightning strikes, and it's still going on. Big ones, some easily lasting 2-3 seconds. We must be in the eye, we could see houses just over from our garden getting hit. I've never seen that before. Wow.

The lightning last night would have made God question his own faith. I thought it was a stunt for War of the Worlds. Scariest/most awe-inspiring thing is seeing it hit houses just over from your garden, when in your own garden you have a conservatory with metal supports, a big metal shed, trees taller than the nearby buildings, and the power exhange for the whole area next to your big metal shed. Suppose it was a bit of a silly idea sitting in the conservatory watching it, but what the hey we would have made the news.

I've seen a shooting star. That was quite simple, but it was just lovely as I was lying outside staring at the stars in the late morning. It was in central London, so all the more special.

It was as if a non-existant God was smiling down on me for just a second. It had a warming and special feeling.

Some of the most simple and natural things can be absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.

Since we're on this sort of subject I put forward this:

Sunlight coming through branches and then somehow coming back onto a hedge without there being a reflective surface...

You had to see it, it was odd, beautiful and like being in a forest glade despite being in the middle of Edinburgh.

Very cool

That was my instinctive reaction. To call my mate and ask him to record it on his digital camera.

I think lightning is one of the most spectacular and beautiful things there are. We had it really strong down here in London. It was like a light show with a brilliantly broody purple/black backdrop.

Brilliant.

01:20am and still the occasional flash.
Very impressive indeed, took some photos and videoed it as well, haven't seen the like in a long long time.
Although the most impressive/frightening thing I've seen was a few months ago on my way down to Dorset to visit an ex. Trundling along the M3 and into a lightning storm, very heavy rain with black sky.
I was in the middle-lane, as were most cars because of the flash-flooding when forked lightning hit about 30ft in front of me on the inside lane. An enormous bang and a fireball that lasted a split second.
Never seen anything like it and have never seen lightning touch ground before, let alone that close when I'm doing 30mph towards it.
Haven't been that afraid before or since.

I saw a massive lightning storm the other day, the day of the massive flooding in Yorkshire (I'm in York). There was no thunder though, oddly, just tonnes of lightning almost directly overhead.

I was watching that storm pass over London earlier, it was huuuge with lightning every few seconds and a continous rumble of thunder.

It missed us then went to destroy Harlow.

We've just had a gooden here in my small corner of the West Midlands. I haven't seen lightning like that since I was in Florida last year. With Florida being the lightning capital of the world, thats quite an achievement.
