After his performance in Washington - and strangely there's been no follow-up on what's happened or the political fallout from his refusal to be bullied and his absolutely stunning attack - Galloway is once again proving himself high in my expectations.
The G8 summit at Gleneagles, protests are planned obviously.
Kinross council have blocked plans for protestors of the Stop The War coalition to march past the hotel. Perth council said they had to take out insurance of around £5m if they wanted to do this (obviously in no way trying to scupper plans for protest, no sir).

Galloway's response?
"We're marching to Gleneagles. We have a right to march on the streets of our own country against the presence in our own country of dangerous foreign and domestic leaders.
That's our right, we will exercise it, we won't pay for it, we won't take out insurance against ourselves, we won't be denied."

*applauds*
I don't really care if anybody else likes the bloke or rehashes "but he took oil!!!!!" allegations for which he sued & won a newspaper for and gladly went to Washington to answer questions about.
For me myself & I, this is the first time in a long time that a politician actually has the balls to say what he thinks - and it happens to be exactly what an awful lot of people are thinking too.

And as a little exercise in media-self censorship, try to find (without using Galloway's website or any affiliated sites - that'd be bias) what has happened since with the committee.

Well to be honest, if Galloway told the Labour candidate that she has the "blood of thousands or Iraqis on her hands" or something like that, then Paxman deserves to ask the question. I'm pretty sure Paxman wasn't simply referring to the fact that she was the only black woman in Parliament, I expect Galloway's morally questionable campaign came into it as well.

But at least Galloway says what he thinks, I guess.

EDIT - Then again - "including a lot of women who had blacker faces than her." What on earth is that supposed to mean? I'm not supporting Paxman over Galloway by the way, the interview was pretty stupid too, just interested to know what exactly Galloway said and did during his campaign.

They both were - Paxman kept asking the same stupid question, and all Galloway wanted was a shallow congratulatory remark. As soon as he got it, he walked off. Must have been a long night, I'm a fan of both of them.

That's the one.
Paxman came off as a complete ass.

GG: I've never heard of Nick Raynsford, no.
JP: What else haven't you heard of?
GG: Well, I've been in Parliament a long time...
JP: He was a Parliamentary colleague of yours until very recently.
GG: Well, most of them just blend one into the other, Jeremy, they're largely a spineless, a supine bunch.

Generally I like the guy a lot, but I thought he was ridiculously childish on election night when talking to Jeremy Paxman. He was asked questions, and just responded to them with "Aren't you going to congratulate me on my historic victory?" until the topic was raised, and then he walked off.
