Jake had a good life. He didn’t need to work, he was young, and he had his health. He had everything that he could ever want in his very own castle and the surrounding area. How did he manage to acquire such an estate you may ask? He wondered about that as well, he’d been there as long as he could remember and his parents were now long gone.

Now Jake was popular with the female of the species. He didn’t need to bother with chat up lines; he could get a girl simply by looking at her. Some said it was his luxurious home that did it, he would always take his dates back there and I’m sure you can imagine what they got up to. They would never stay too long though and he’d always take his dates out for meals, cooking wasn’t a strong point of his.

On one day in particular, the air was damp but Jake took his same route out of his home that he took everyday, it had become a habit. He saw the most beautiful female imaginable. She was the one, he was sure of it. He calmly went up to her and as always he got his wish, and he took her out for a quick meal. Jake got them the food free of charge, exotic food it was as well, and many different colours lay before them as they ate. Neither of them ate much and soon they were on their way back to Jake’s home.

They entered through the door, which was open when they arrived. Jake wasn’t worried though. Jake’s date thought something was fishy. She looked around and smelt around and there on the floor was evidence that Jake had been with a woman not too long ago. Jake didn’t recognise the mess on the floor but it was his.

Not only was it his but his date was also responsible for the slimy gunk.

Tom walked up towards the shiny bowl and poured in some more of the multicoloured pieces of food. He stared at his two fish and smiled, thinking to himself, “I wonder if goldfish really do only have three second memories.”

Jake's a fish, right? Fish put eggs (which are gooey) in warm places, e.g. a plastic castle. Jake has made some eggs with the female fish. He doesn't remember and nor does she, it's playing on the saying that when somebody has a bad memory they have a memory like a goldfish. Got it?

I might be being really stupid, but I've re-read those final 3 paragraphs about 5 times and I am UTTERLY baffled. :D
