But I think Ken Kutaragi has got it all wrong... And in my opinion franchises like Jet Set Radio, Unreal Tournament and Sega Sports are what will make the X-Box ONE OF the top guns in the industry...
I know, I know, Nintendo have lots of experience and Sony have one of the best recognised brand names for gaming in the 21st century even one that, in some peoples opinion will exceed the Nintendo brand, as most don't know Pokémon are associated, let alone owned by Nintendo.
But all this history aside, it is the future we're all interested in and I think that despite Microsoft's Terrible E3 - (Electronic Entertaimnet Error!) They will bounce back.
Maybe it is the advertising that will do it, Microsoft are renowned for their clean, white-looking adverts and hey, even the fake one shown in Daily Radar could easily have been mistaken for a 'real thing'. But as we all know the X-Box trails the Gamecube by Ł100 and it might just be this that could sink Billy-o's Boat, but having said this, will people think they're getting more from the X-Box than Gamecube?! The price kinda suggests so, and nowadays you have to pay for quality, it doesn't just jump up and slap you in the face... Also the Gamecube doesn't exactly look like a Next-Gen Wonder Machine does it?! I mean you lot may very well say...
"It isn't the look thast counts, Game. You have to realise it is what the console can do!"
Oh, believe me, I have been on enough sites and downloaded enough videos to know what the Gamecube is capable of BUT, to the everyday man, the N64 was seen as a failure and their confidence can only be restored through one thing...The Gamecube itself! It MIGHT take the Gamecube a while to get off the ground and with a mere 3 day gap between the two consoles being released people MIGHT see the X-Box as a more advanced machine, costlier, therefore of more quality and well.... Microsoft isn't exactly an unknown brand name!
I don't think the X-Box is 'done' just yet, I am not questioning Kutaragi's knowledge of the industry, but what I am saying is that 6 months or so before the release of the console in the States it is still too early to know how Microsoft will do. It takes about 1 month to port a game... and If MS can pursuade SEGA or any other Developers to port some of their PS2 or Arcade Classics the X-Box launchline up could very well be given quite a boost...
Anything can happen in this industry... And I don't think It will be smooth Sailing for Nintendo OR Sony with their MGS2's, GBA's or anything else!
Don't count a multi-billion pound company out yet! You're daft if you do!
Game
...watch out with the predictions!
