Sure, Damon, sure. The Live 8 concerts are apparently perpetuating the myth that Africa is a "failing and ill" place. Well guess what you berk, it pretty much is. He also attacked the line-up because it was too Anglo-Saxon and not enough African acts were taking part. Hello, Mr. Albarn? Anyone at home? This isn't a cultural festival celebrating all that is wonderful about third-world nations, this is a fund-raiser plain and simple, and if having big names on the bill gets people to fork out for tickets, advertising, donations blah blah blah, then so be it. How many people do you think would go if Ladysmith Black Mambazo were headlining?
Damon Albarn is obviously an expert on Africa, because he spent several months tootling around with musicians from Mali, and forced the rest of Blur to tag along to Morocco, subsequently breaking up the band, where they recorded their worst album to date. This to me looks like a classic case of someone who's spent a little time in a faraway place thinking they're an expert on the subject and not knowing when to shut their big stupid flapping mouth.
And I'm sure it has nothing to do with Gorillaz not being asked to perform.

No.

I Agree they think there so cool by thinking money is nothing, which is why they buy bottles of champagne for $12,000 a piece and poor it on the floor, glorifying themselves. Is this not a little contradictory?
Isn't it liveAid?
'We need to give money to Africa NOW! Which is why we've spent millions on our stage show... VERTIGO!'
The racists among you will assume I meant something I didn't. The fundamentalists among you will assume I meant something I didn't. Such a free-thinking society we have.
Geldof should die. I'm thinking industrial machinery.

Well, basically, it's not a fund-raiser because no funds are being raised. They aren't asking for money. So by definition, it's not a fund-raiser.
The point is to get the guys at the G8 summit to cancel the debt of the African countries. I'm not saying they don't have problems, of course they do. Which is why Live 8 is happening.
Raising political issues rather than money - basically a big pressure-group. With pop music.
And how is Live 8 not a fund-raiser?
If you're going to be Mr. Snappy, then at least give a reason behind your posts.

But, it isn't.

And, it isn't.
