I didn't used to mind spiders.
But one day I was on my bed and a huge one (i'm talking about 2 inches in diameter) managed to fall onto my naked torso and run around.

I was scared to death (because I don't know what spiders are posionous etc) and I've hated anything bigger than about 1/3 of an inch in diamter dince.

The others I can squish under my thumb (but only if they're making a web in my room, otherwise I just leave them, I don't care).

I'm absolutely amazed by webs though, and I try to avoid destroying them when I can.

Once a spider started making a HUGE web across my garden (about 15 yards across), it was the most amazing thing ever.
I destoryed that though, becuase I didn't want it to end up a big massive thing that I'd get stuck in.

I don't mind medium to small sized spiders.

But when it gets to the big ones, I do tend to flinch.

I've been socially-conditioned to hate wasps, moths and spiders :~(

I agree with BG.

Why would you be more afraid of a spider than any other insect. You may view them as a pest (although they help you in ways ecologically), but the extremes of fearing them, jumping away from them, etc?

I don't particularly like spiders, I certainly wouldn't let them crawl on me like some people, but that's not to say I run away or smash them into the floor.

I don't buy it. It's a form a mass hysteria, and a cliche. Anyone who's got a spider phobia should ask themselves why they feel the need to demonize them. I could understand if every spider was like the Brazillian bird-eating spider with a dangerous venom.

Furthermore, people with phobias seem to indulge in them - they almost celebrate them - instead of overcoming them with a little rational thought.

'GOOD DAY Y'ALL... who wants to hold a GIANNNNT SPIDER today!'

as he scans audience with his eyes the little ginger neon haired girl whos like two foot tall must of stood out.. and the fact my brother was mad at me and was saying 'HER HERRRR!'

OMFG!!!!!!!

I held a spider like that once at those greenhouse/zoo things. I'm still shiit-scared of them... with their hairy little faces.

I love ants though, they had these massive ones at the same place on ropes above your head carrying leaves. I play with them on holiday too... like a big ant god.

YEAH
