We're finally getting rid of any association with NTL, but the broadband was actually quite good once it started behaving. Are there any other similarly priced ISPs that are any good?

Is there anyway to check what our exchanges have and have not got?

LLU is good to go for if you can get it, very few exchanges have LLU with most of them being in the London area.

Actually it's 19.99 excl VAT after that which is £23.44 a month...

You might want to look at ukonline, who have taken advantage of LLU (Local Loop Unbundling, I think its called). Standard broadband for £10 a month, with up to 8Mb for £30 monthly (uncapped).

You'll only be able to get the better deals if your exchange has been unbundled.

I've asked Freeola and Pipex about any LLU services from them, but they simply responded with the standard, "we're looking in to it", so you may want to look around or wait and see what other ISP's will offer down the line. An LLU service from Freeola would be handy bundled along with their free web hosting.

Personally, I can't recommend NTL enough. Sure, the CS is crap and nobody really knows what's going on, but it's the quickest and most responsive connection I've ever had.

Well actually, the current offer is £14.99 for the first 3 months and then £19.99 after that...

Had Zen for about years 2 and been on Pipex for nearly a year now.

For Zen, never had any downtime or slow sleeds etc. Pipex has been good too, just not as perfect as Zen. Zen is the more expensive of the 2 though.
