Yesterday one of my toenails nearly came off. It's the toe next to the big toe on my right foot. At the moment it's attached and I think it would really hurt if I tried to pull the rest of it off. Any suggestions what I should do?

My fingernail came off once after I trapped it in my friends garden gate. I just put a plaster round it and it slowly came off in about 2 weeks with a bit of gentle pulling. It didn't hurt.
