What a Golden Age we live in, where all the media seems to slipping ever closer to the stinking cesspit that spawned the Sun

Newspapers such as tabloids were never particularly good reads and I assume most bought them for the 'Page 3' girls but even the Suns' moral standards are declining faster than an Albino in a Volcano.

Apparently seeing a former world icon (for all the wrong reason) in his undies constitutes front page news. Oh yes, gripping stuff

The Sun are probably the reporters that thought up the concept of rummaging through celebritys' dustbins to try and find stories. 'OMG - Abi Titmuss eats a Chicken pie - isn't she a veggie ?!' - dun-dun-da, stick it on the front page

And now ITV seems to have taken over Channel 4's role as lord of the smut and programmes not deemed good enough for any other channel.

C4 has been redeemed recently due to Futurama and The Simpsons, whereas ITV has entered a sharp decline, presumably they needed to churn something out to suit their budget, and so along came 'I'm a Z-list celebrity'

I can't comment on the Radio but I assume that out there somewhere will be the Sun meets ITV frequency.

Tabloids on the decline? Surely they've been on the decline for decades.

I love the american approach of getting one black person and asking "How does this issue affect the black community?"

Hey, I didn't invent idiot journalism and television programmes the equivalent of being stuck next to a shouting retard on a train in rush hour. I just point it out where I see it.

Personally I find it frightening, because these rags wouldnt sell if people didn't have an all-consuming lust for the mundane and truly trivial. You dont need to know what a Big Brother 2nd-placer was doing last Thursday at a nightclub, the opinions of soap actors do not matter, lurid sex stories about footballers and Z-list celebs will not assist your life in any way.
You will never increase your knowledge or intelligence by reading about what Jordan & Peter Andre are up to.
The Sun defended it's pictures of Hussein by saying they were helping to "de mystify" him. Yeah right, so what purpose did Sunday's front page and 2-story spread about The Yorkshire Ripper serve, other than prurient arousal in the mouthbreathers?
These same people are the sorts of fools that scream about Maxine Carr being evil, and set fire to paediatricians houses in a blind rage.

Well, not my particular concern about keeping Saddams' personal rights and making sure he's comfortable, after all, he is a dictator who butchered thousands in his own country

However, it's just that it's not excatly cutting edge news, Saddam in his skimps.

Most papers would prioritise and put something like a crash or real News on the front-page, not our Sun though. How the hell can someone like him be allowed to sue ? He should get laughed out of the courtroom

I despise American media and TV programming. The news seems to be about scaremongering, but most people would perfer to sit and fecally decay whilst watching Will & Grace.

And how is the media declining? It's getting stronger all the time. In some cases crapper, but stronger. A decline in the moral standards I just realised you meant. Well yer, but while Saddamn in his khaks isn't exactly cutting edge I don't really see whats so wrong with it, certainly nothing to justify the furore it's caused.

We're in the "info-tainment" era.

Go to America, their press is a little more 'issues' based, a lot better than here anyway.
