So.. too much? Will people get confused with two new Ninty handhelds on the market and neither of them technically as good as the PSP?

Exactly, and my point is I'd rather this happen for me right now than Ninty announce the GBA2 and me having to fork out for yet another Ninty handheld, a year after the last one. I don't care if Ninty want to release a new GBA in the meantime, it'll help sales no end. If you don't want it, you don't buy it, end of story.
Yes, it's gone on for a long time, but it really should stop.
Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket - and in Japan the Gameboy Lite.
Gameboy Colour had various special editions with Pokémon on them etc, as the GBA has had as well.
I'm not going to buy one but it'll sell well.
And also, if a GBA2 was announced, for release later this year for example, then that's *another* handheld for people to get, right after they've just gone and got a DS. At least with the Micro people have a choice whether to get it, whereas if you had wanted a GBA2 title you'd have to have bought the new console.
But as long as people still fall for this strategy, the companies will continue to exploit it.
EDIT - @Edgy's post
It's not 'prolonging', it's blatant 'milking'. There's absolutely no need to release such a device.
