On-line Gaming?! Are you joking?!
Okay so SEGA had a good run with DREAMARENA, but it wasn't THAT successful...PSO anyone?...Yes please. But really, are you sure On-line Gaming is Nintendo's thing? Personally I wouldn't mind a multiplayer Rogue Leader and PIKMIN would be a treat but I just don't think many people are assured that Nintendo have got a good enough grasp on that sort of thing...
PSO V.2 IS a good thing but really there is no point setting up an internet gaming server JUST for that...and if Nintendo, Rare and other companies take time up to sort out on-line features and gaming for games you can bet your last penny the gameplay has a good chance of suffering!
Having said all this and roasted the post with negative comments there is no financial reason why the GAMECUBE shouldn't go on-line there is a modem available and although it isn't included you can almost guarantee it won't cost anymore than a game.....Mass market strategy! - Must Be!
But...if the PS2 can get up and running with internet access, worldwide by christmas do Nintendo stand a chance of being able to use their 'possible on-line gaming' to win peoples wallets? I think so...I mean gimmie a break...Quake 3 Revolution...(or Arena) possibly the most renound On-Line game for this year and a few years to come.... and it's released on the PS2 with....NO ON-LINE PLAY?!?!?!?
WHAT ARE THEY THINKING...
If Sony are going to beat about the bush and get things going this slowly they've lost before the fight! But if Nintendo can get their hands on, and release a successful port of PSOv2 they can really boost their on-line gaming community and other titles are sure to follow in suit.
So in a word...'YES' We do want on-line gaming...it could overtake what Sega and Sony have/will do in the blink of an eye and hey with such a powerful console why wouldn't Nintendo build an On-Line community...
A successful Next-Gen console without On-Line Gaming is like a bad Rare game...Not Bloody Likely! Nintendo are bound to follow through their Gamecube launch with an On-Line gaming community within no less than a year...and Us - 'The Gamers', the Developers and Nintendo themselves will be all the better for it!
Game
But surely...it won't be the same Nintendo with on-line play...and just who will make the on-line titles?!

I don't think so!
If I remember correctly, which is quite a feat...they're not releasing the console WITH a Moden...both normal and B.Band modem will be sold seperately....probably lowering the cost of the Gamecube!
The Nintendo Difference?

No built in modem for the GC! This being because what would happen when people want an upgrade from the 56K?
I think DKR, PIKMIN and Smash Bros. Would be best.
....a company (no names) are thinking of releasing 'topupcards' and a rather large adaptor to go onto the GBA so people can surf the net...
...whistle's....
