Just wondering which Western films you'd recommend, I'm gunna buy a few on the basis that cowboys are as cool as Ninjas or Zombies or Pirates.

So yeah, recommend 'em to me.

It's got the same principal character types as a Western, but that's as far as it goes. Wookiees aren't space-horses. Or Mexicans.

It has elements of westerns in it (the han saloon shootout for example), but it also has a large amout of other influences. It it can't be anything other than a space opera though.

For a "western in space", watch "Battle beyond the stars" it's basically a space opera remake of "The Magnificent Seven", which in turn was a remake of the Japanese "Seven Samurai"

The only true western in there is "The Magnificent Seven", you know, cowboys and stuff.

Silverado. Great cast: Scott Glenn, Kevin Kline, Jeff Goldblum, Danny Glover, John Cleese. And a good early performance from Kevin Costner, before he got too annoying.
