Well, I understand I am only a meezly first year student. I am a creative writing and drama student (with some spanish)
.. I have done the exams and performances now I just have alot of work to do for portfolios hand in date 23rd may.
EVERY time i try do some work, be inspired or something I cannot seem to do it. Its like the pressure or motivation is gone. ITs driving me insane..
I have even come home to essex to be around parents who hopefully kick my butt to work!
PLEASE..
I do not drink coffee it just makes me have a headache after getting high as a kite. If you have any 'motivate your self and work like a beast' tips
Lil ginge needs you *sob* *sob*
I have to agree, I've done some of my best work at 2 in the morning... only without the tabs and coffee.
In the last year, I realised I had to work my balls off to get a 2:1, and promptly did.
However, my inability to get myself motivated for 2 years made the whole thing much more touch and go than it had to be.
The good news is that you've recognised the problem and do want to do something about it. That's an important first step.
It's important to have a decent sudy environment, not just free of distractions, but also uncluttered, with a bit of fresh air. Somewhere generally conducive to good study.
Also, you work better in the cold. It keeps you a bit more alert than when you're warm and comfortable.
Example, There was a 'competetive dad' Russian guy who used to keep his three daughters in the cold garage for hours, learning and practicing chess. They all became incredible players, child prodigies, until they were old enough to move out on their own, and stopped playing with that intensity.
But open a window, and don't worry if it's slightly colder than you'd like. Just get on with the work, and promise yourself central heating when you finish!
Music can help, if you get the right stuff. Some studies have actually shown Mozart while studying to help you learn. I've been using it myself and I've found it works for me. Plus you almost look cultured when people look at your cd collecion :^)
Good routines seem to be as much about habit as effort. If you don't have the habit yet, you can help build it by working regularly, set some time aside (even if only half an hour) for proper desky study every day. Do the best you can, and you'll find it gets easier. Just keep trying.
For a long term tip, I highly recommend you go learn about NeuroLinguistic Programming. I've only just begun to do so myself, and I've not had much time lately with academic work on the go. But the stuff I have read changed my outlook on motivation, and 'improved' me almost immediately.
If it teaches me nothing else, I'm already significantly better at motivating myself for having read a couple of chapters in a book I got hold of.
And for a quick tip, focus on the larger goal this contributes towards.
It needs to be a big enough goal to motivate you, but close enough to the assignment that the connection is still blatant.
Have you got a goal for the year? Maybe to average a 60?
Or does your final degree result motivate you more?
Maybe it's a career goal?
Pick a definite, realistic, goal, and go for it.
Hope some of that helps.
For Inspiration: Do something completely different. Listen to music you've never listened to before. A completely different style. Go to a different part of town and see a different and new film. Don't try too hard for something to happen, just mess around with ideas.
For Motivation: (risky but works for me) Set yourself an overwhelming target that you never think you'll achieve. Start going towards it. If you fail, you've most likely still succeeded. If you succeed then you'll have done brilliantly. Also, once you've got on the wagon so to speak, don't get off. Keep a routine and keep doing whatever until you're completely done.

"Carmina Burana", specifically "Oh Fortuna" by Orf. That'll get your juices flowing. Or, odd though it may seem, I find I write best in the small hours of the morning after many, many cigarettes & much caffeine.
Oh, right..cure for demotivation..
Music has an intense impact on mood... May I suggest some Bohemian Rapsody?
