I dislike this new scientist fad of inventing a condition for every child or adolescent who isn't well behaved.

"My child isn't thick, he's got attention defacit disorder"

"My child isn't violent, he's got misanthropitis"

"My child didn't punch little Timmy in the face and fist his tight tight ass on purpose, he's dyslexic!"

It's silly.

Thick and stupid kids will continue to be thick, just under a different name. No matter how many mood repressors or gold-stars for not starting fires you give them, they're still going to be uncontrollable and eventually work in a car wash somewhere in Portsmouth.

My theory is we should take all the safety labels off things and let the stupid ones wipe themselves out.

Or maybe you got the analogy idea from Tim's post.

And no, not everyone is an idiot to me, only the idiots. If I sounded harsh, it's probably because I misunderstood and took it as a comparison, which slightly offended me.

(Kept my post to keep context) Why does everyone have to be so damned aggressive nowadays.

Everyone's an idiot in your mind, I won't point out that it was an analogy rather than a comparison, the word 'like' was a clue

The thing is,
problems have causes.

Okay the kids in question may be little a**holes, but they're still only kids, the products of genes and environment.

I don't know that much about the technical side of attention defecit disorder, but it is rooted in a genuine physical malfunction of the brain/hormone system, right? (Not just the kid having weak values).

So if you can tackle the problem, give that kid, and all the people he comes into contact with, a better life, why wouldn't you?

You can largely extend the same principles of cause and cure to psychological problems too (although the diagnosis of a 'defect' is less cut and dry). And again, if you can tackle it and give everyone involved a better life, why not?

Obviously when people use it as an excuse it's pretty poor form, but as an approach to solving a problem, why not?

My mum thought I was hyperactive when I was younger.

I just do what I want to do.
