I've done an ADSL Guide speed test and want to know if these results for my 2MB ADSL connection are 'right'. The ISP is Pipex by the way.

Actual Speed
------------

Upstream: 240Kbs (30.0 KB/sec)

Downstream: 1227Kbs (153.4 KB/sec)

True Speed (estimated)
---------------------

Upstream: 259 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Downstream: 1325 Kbps (inc. overheads)

I'm not sure what the numbers in brackets mean.

That's what I'd expect from a 2mb connection.

Looks as if your connection is running approx just less than 1.5Mb in total.

[edit] Rerun it though, result vary wildly.

The numbers in brackets are the transfer rate per second. An upstream is almost always lower than the downstream. So basically, you're capable of downloading at 220k a second on a good day. I think ;D.

That's how much data you can download/upload per second, i.e. at 30KB/sec it'll take 30 seconds to upload a 900KB file.
