Yeah, yeah, I know it's been asked before, but I'm not prepared to trawl back 30+ pages to find the thread. :)

So basically, I'm just interested in your favourite Anime series. I've started to gather quite a large collection now (40Gb on my HDD, 50Gb backed-up on DVD) and am curious as to what everyone else likes.

So, yeah, shoot.

Make sure you get the Movie that was released last week, it's fantastic. Though, also make sure you've watched up to episode 70 or so as it fits into the storyline there.

And gamesfreak- who'd ever watch dubbed? :D The quality is just lame... the voice actors are specifically chosen for the characters in Japan, whereas there's so lame-ass Canadian/American speaking like a 'tard to get it to fit to lip movements.

Ninja Scroll is good. BubbleGum Crisis Collection Volumes 1-3. And of course, all 7 series of Ranma 1/2.

Captian Tsubasa is the greatest anime I have ever seen. Actually I find it better than any American movie I have ever seen, but I don't think it was released in the U.K , because nobody ever mentions it.

I completetly agree, I always watch my Anime in Japanese with subtitles than dub. By the way, did you guys know that the new Ghibli film, Howl's Moving Castle is getting released over here in cinemas on 1st September?

For feature length films I'd recomend Akira, Castle of Cagliostro (the best Lupin the 3rd film by far), Cowboy Bebop The Movie, Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, Memories, Metropolis, Patlabor 1, 2 and 3, Tokyo Godfathers and Wings of Honneamise.

And of course there are the Ghibli films, with the likes of Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, My Neighbour Totoro, The Cat Returns, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke and Grave of the Fireflies.

For TV series/OVAs/OAVs, Cowboy Bebop, Cromartie High School, Cyber City Oedo 808, Excel Saga, Fist of the North Star TV (for pure cheese value), FLCL, Fullmetal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Golden Boy, Gravion, GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka, Last Exile, L/R: Licensed By Royalty, Lupin the 3rd TV, Macross Plus, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Master Keaton, Paranoia Agent, Read or Die the TV and Samurai Champloo.
Out of this lot my favourites are probably Cowboy Bebop (the best anime series ever), GTO, a fantastic comedy series with a great main character and Lupin the 3rd because it's dated and cheesy, but most of all great fun.

And on the subtitle issue, I don't mind English dubs. If I were watching a fan-subbed download then I wouldn't mind the subtitles, but for dvds I watch them dubbed. It may not be the purists way, but English dubs are actually very good nowadays. A few years ago when companies budgets were smaller we had some cack, but the anime industry in English speaking zones, especially the US, is so big now that better quality dubs can be produced. They're not too bad.

Used to be, not anymore. Got taken over by Jetix, which is mostly crap.

o.O

Digimon? Since when was crappy American trash anime? (No offence.)

Meh. Ghost In The Shell, obviously. Akira was a bit OTT. Castle in the Sky was brilliant, but I find Studio Ghibli rather depressing, same with Princess Mononoke and Grave of Fireflies. Spirired Away was better, but didn't like the concept as much as CITS, but ah well. Quite enjoyed Perfect Blue too, even if it did have the wierdest character in history... (Mania-man or whatever.)

Naruto has to be my favourite. Always upbeat, always there! And it has so many of those "Oh yuss! Yuss, yuss! OOOOH, YUUUUSSSSS!" moments. (Trust, blad :P.) Pity the UK doesn't embrace Anime, but I guess the chav culture eats away at any decent prospect - "What, it's foreign? Burn it." - seems to be the general concensus anyway. Still, when you've got over 40Gig of Anime on your PC, ya can't complain. (I have every single Naruto episode. Ever. Like, go me. Or whatever.)
