I say once a Notable, always a Notable. You shouldn't lose that distinction just because there are asses overunning the forums that you choose not to tango with, and subsequently drop in the "ultimate poster" realm as a result.
Being a Notable is, from what I've gathered, someone who makes/has made this place worthwhile and fun to come around. It's a bit difficult to do that when everyone is just bickering and slamming eachother with insults around here. Just an observation.
Personally, if the Notable vote is extended to the regulars, I will vote for the individual(s) that promote community and do it with their personal stylee and flair. So far, I've only encountered a few handful that have remained consistent with that.
