Shouldn't matter that much, except the examples and the pictures won't be contemporary.
For a subject like Science it shouldn't matter too much whether the books are old.
I'd agree with Mav, take a look through your notes and someone elses if you need to

I advise you make your own notes from what you've learned and then read them back.
