Every few weeks I cough up one or two of these horribly foul smelling little pea sized 'things.' Never really known what they until now, and it's quite horrible.

As a kid I used to think it was because I used to pick my nose and eat the bogeys. Bogeys used to taste nice if you never tried it, ear wax was a bit sour though. Urgh.

Anyway, that's what I thought and I wish that was the reason:

"Tonsil Stones (tonsilloliths) are caused by an accumulation of sulfur-producing bacteria and debris that become lodged in the tonsils. This debris (which can include mucous from post nasal drip) putrifies in the back of your throat, and collects in the tonsil crypts (small divots or pockets which appear on the surface of the tonsils).

When this debris combines with the Volatile Sulfur Compounds produced by the anaerobic bacteria beneath the surface of your tongue, along with the tonsil stones it can also create chronic Halitosis (and other stubborn bad breath and taste disorders)."

Never really had bad breath unlike some people, but it seems like this is a rather common problem, just nobody ever talks about it because it's quite disgusting. Might be a time to start buying Listerine though, that appears to be a good way to stop them, although in turn it does sting like a biatch and it makes me cry.

Main point of the topic, does anyone else get these? There must be at least one of you.

Next question, have you ever taken a good whiff of one of them?

Worst smell ever? It comes close.

Bo11ocks, that's what I thought too. Yeah, I suffer from the same problem, it's been quite common over the last few weeks as well. Thanks for the enlightening post.
