Is there any animal that can actually laugh, not like a hiena, that heckles and sounds like a laugh, but actually find something funny.

Is is possible? I've been trying to make my dog laugh by tripping my cats up, but it doesnt work.

To find something funny requires emotion, and it's only us that have that. And mice, of course.

Chimps.
Humans.
Dolphins?

But humour is a human emotion ... it has no purpose other than socially.

Show a chimp Bill & Ted and see if he laughs. If he doesn't, be gone with it.

He's right, humour is human, hence the "hum" prefix found in "human"

That would make it "Animour", which sounds like "Enema"...an altogether different facial expression.

This thread reminds me of something in Brooker's Screenburn: "Do spiders live alone?"

Dogs have emotions - or at least they imitate it well.

When you come back from school/work/brothel they act like they haven't seen you for a decade, really happy and all. So happy in fact, that he won't undo his crotch from your leg.

And when you shout at them, they give you that look like they're really sorry and can they get back to humping your leg now?
