I keep getting black bits at the side of my screen as if i've shrunk the screen with the little buttons on the monitor.

I've tried widening the screen but it's still there.

Does this make sense?

I was playing about with my settings so I might have done something without knowing?

Does anyone know how to correct it? I promise I'll leave my settings alone from now on.

Hee. My monitor went really dull the other day, to the point where everything on the screen looked almost black. I tried the on-screen console and the graphics card setting, nothing would fix it...

I banged the top of the monitor out of frustration and it went back to normal...

I shouldn't be surprised, it's about 5 years old now.

If the black bit is constant, it's just the monitor taping or whatever it's called. It's there to prevent the full screen being hidden underneath the actual monitor overlap part which holds the LCD/CRT screen.
