Considering the selling overall was very subtle (as the match was too short to develop any real attack on single body parts), I'm not surprised Regal tapped when he did. The move Benoit hit immediately before applying the Crossface was a top-heavy shoulder-breaker, directly on the side he applied the Crossface to, meaning that shoulder was tender and had no time to heal, the pain was flaring and the Crossface could take effect quickly.
Plus, Benoit had hit high-impact German and Dragon suplexes (damage to the neck, shoulders and ack - Crossface territory) on Regal, and he didn't quite tap immediately, as Benoit had to get Regal's blocking left hand out of the way (all during pulling back on Regal's head), and when he could extend fully, Regal had to tap.
Granted, it wasn't a perfect finish (more work on the shoulder and neck would have made sense) but I think Regal and Benoit's execution of said finish was perfectly sound.
And yes, what a great match.

Your right, thats the only thing i picked up on wrong there. Considering minutes earlier Regal had been locked in the Sharpshooter for some time and not tapped out made him look tough, then he goes and taps out before the Crossface was even locked in properly.
Weaker people than Regal have lasted longer in the crossface so it is a shame he tapped out so quickly. Other than that the match was brilliant. I record Velocity every week and i am planning on getting all the best bits and putting them together on a DVD. That match will definately be on there along with some of the Paul London Vs Akio Matches which i found very good.

That isn't always enough though. It's common knowledge that Regal is one of HHH's closest freinds in the business but Regal perhaps doesn't have the ego to ask Trips for a monster push...

That surprised me too. Regal is normally the consumate master of the little things which make a match look great. Very out of character.

This week's Velocity showed that the ability is there, and that Vince does know how to use it... he just chooses not to a lot of the time. Which is very frustrating.

Very much so, Frankie's debut and the Regal vs Benoit match made Velocity better than the last month's Smackdown and RAW's combined (minus the Richards chair shot to JBL of course :-D)
Unfortunately a career on Velocity and being jobbed out to the higher ups most likely awaits Frankie. Either that or saddle him with a stupid gimmick ........ and then stick him on Velocity after jobbing him out to the higher ups

Exactly what I thought. Such a great athlete that the WWE barely deserves to have (because you just know they're going to do their best to waste him, as usual) getting such a bland reception was quite frustrating to witness. Showed the same kind of ignorance that welcomed the bWo to SmackDown a few weeks ago - I know there were sections cheering, but there were also some booing, especially in the direction of those attempting to start an "E-C-Dub" chant.
Hopefully Frankie gets the push that he has earned in the past, but I'm betting he'll be stuck on Velocity for some time yet. Not that that's a bad thing, seeing as Velocity in recent weeks has topped the other supposedly bigger shows with ease...
She didnt accompany Rene Dupree to the ring this week *shock!*
