A couple of close friends of ours have been trying for a baby for many years now without much luck.
9 months ago she got the best present anyone could have ever given her, she was told that she was pregrant. You could see the stars in her eyes and the happiness shone through her like rays of sunshine - her life was made, it was like a dream, finally, she would have the family she always wanted.
She's had a wonderful pregnancy, if there ever was one - no throwing up, no pain, no dodgy cravings of any sort and all regular check ups have shown both mum and baby to be healthy.
Baby is due on April 13th and what have I learned today? 1 week before the baby is due our friend is taken into hospital yesterday evening because the baby had stopped kicking and moving around in her stomach, later found that the baby had infact died.
She had to still give birth to the baby, knowing that when the baby comes out into this world it will be dead. Our friend was lucky to survive the ordeal leaving both parents devastated and wishing there was a god.

Man this is such a grim situation. The only good (if there is any) to come of it, is that this will really build their character and make them stronger, which they can adapt to their lives for other things. But its still a very sad situation, I hate hearing about things like this :-( Best wishes to them.
God works in mysterious ways.
Must have been devastating for her. I have a beautiful nephew born on Saturday morning, one of twins, sadly his twin died a week before she went into labour. Jonaton is beautiful though, and we're very very thankful to have him.
True, hardly a conversation starter in real life. But still...

Guh. I'll put in layman-lite terms then. Buddhism doesn't discriminate what you do or don't believe in. Hate Gods, but follow the teachings of Buddha? Wow, you're a Buddhist then.

Atheism is a disbelief and a refusal to even consider it, that sort of closed mind goes against Buddhism i believe. Where's Kawada when you need him?

Atheism is the disbelief that any god(s) exist. Buddhism is simply a collection of teachings, principles and ethics. You can be a Hindu as well as a Buddhist, just like you can be an Atheist and a Buddhist at the same simultaneously.

Atheism is a refusal to believe in even the possibility, Agnostic is not believing but being open to it which is more accurate. Buddhism doesn't ask the question at all as far as i'm aware, the is no set guide. I may have explained that badly.
