Booked my holiday. 10 days in New York this September. Can't wait. Although the hostel (YMCA West Side) seems to have a bad reputation. We decided to stay there as it's quite cheap (but not the cheapest), is half a block from Central Park, and has TV in the rooms. But I've read a few visitor reviews full of stories of staff breaking into rooms, stealing things and shaving heads etc.

Bit worried now but I guess I stay in a tent for a few days at festivals where there's more chance of having things stolen etc.

Yeah I know 3 days is TOO short. Went Easter time last year for 7 days. 10 Days is a good amount of time to go, as there is so much to see and do.

I've wanted to go this year but I have no one to go with as there either broke from Uni or dont want to go to NYC. Costs quite a few £100 more to go on your own, looking at Expedia again but the good deals are gone when I look a day later :( Last year me and my parents stayed in a decent hotel on 56th between 8th and Broadway for £430 pp for 7 days with flights etc, which was great.

Would like to move over there as I felt at home while in NYC more than I do here in England.

Well I'm planning to spend a day or so in Jersey and Boston so that'll keep it interesting hopefully.

Who did you go with? If it was a family holiday boredom is covered in the cost.

10 days in NYC is a long time.

I went couple years ago for 5 nights.. and was bored after three.. Maybe thats why people see it as a weekend break and not a major holiday
