Earth, Fire, Water, Wind. And, of course, Love. They held up their rings, shouted the name of their power, and wacky antics happened. For example, Wind girl shouts WIND! and a really big storm appears, sending Evil Nazi Poullter Man out to sea. If they combined (which they always did readily. Language and racial background provided no barrier. We can but learn) and used all rings together, they'd summon Captain Planet, who looked like Pat Sharp. But he was green and wore red underpants.

I've forgotten which one had the monkey. But he was suspiciously ethnic, with a fez and a comedy waistcoat. I think. One of them was a big chunky butch angry Russian girl, who liked the lady-love (a personal theory). She had a girly power, like Water, but blatantly Fire or Earth would have suited her better and she was just angry about this.

There was definitely a monkey. He helped bring pollution down to zero. Which, when you think about it, is a rather good idea. Well done monkey.

Edit: I've forgotten what the Love guy did. I also think it was the Love guy with the monkey. Love is a crap power, I'd have jumped the Wind girl for her ring, she'd be easy to beat up. Not the butch lezza, though. She'd crush me like an egg.

What was that cartoon with about 5 kids in it who all had magic ... okay, yes, rings ... like fire and ice and earth and stuff like that. There may have been a flying car or something also.

Ah, come on, one of them had a monkey.

Captain Planet was guff.

The first bit of Captain Planet is one of the best openings to any theme tune.

I'm gonna download an episode now. Woooo.
