- Homer, Simpsons.
I was just loading up Halo there whilst listening to Rammsteins "Amerika"
when I realised how crap everything would be without entertainment.
I'm talking about TV, music and film here. And don't forget books. Life really would be a drudgery if the only book was the Bible, the only newspaper the Daily Mail, if TV didn't exist and if no-one had heard of the internet let alone gaming. Life is bad enough, same day in, day out, so long yet so short. Media manages to improve my petty life drastically.
There's nothing better than watching a decent film, curling up with a good book on a Winters night or listening to some good tunes as you blow the hell out of people online.
Yet people don't appreciate this brilliance. From those that conduct smear campaigns against the gaming industry, people that complain about TV and those that try to ban certain music. Why can't people just sit back and enjoy what there is? Seeing a naked woman isn't going to corupt a childs life, running someone over in a game won't turn you into a serial killer and listening to music from certain artists doesn't make you get a Tec-9 and pop your school chums. Other factors, like a corrupt and twisted scoiety and narrow minded bigots cause this. But this post isn't a rant against those people and I've strayed from my original message.
What I'm trying to say, in a roundabout way, is that media shapes the world and improves people's lives. If you don't like something turn it off, turn it over or ignore it. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean its crap. (I'm expecting something here).
Anyway yeah. Crank up the sound, turn on the TV and slot in a DVD. Life is crap, but enjoy its perks.
'Curling up with a good book' - that's one of those expressions that just seems to be synonamis with reading.
I agree that if t.v, the 'net, and books weren't around life would be pretty dull. The outside world is great too... but the British weather doesn't help.
Long live media, say I
Now if i was smart i'd turn this bloody machine off, phone an old friend and make plans for tommorow but you know as well as i do that i wont.
Rant over.

*n00bs.
And if (and I think it is) this post applies to me, amongst others, then I'd disregard most of the negative things I say, this forum is usually just a place for me to vent hate.
>But I suppose it's what you make of it.
Yeah. If you don't want to find sick sites and material there is not much chance of it occurring unless you specficaly try and find it. TV is a mixed bag, things like soaps disgust me.
>Also a cesspool of moral bankruptcy, prejudice and hatred.
This seems about right judging by the past few weeks on here. All seems to be very hostile. The arrogance of some of the people on here is disgraceful, and I don't mean the noobs.
The internet is another mixed bag. Highly educational, an unequalled source of information and potential enlightenment. Also a cesspool of moral bankruptcy, prejudice and hatred. But I suppose it's what you make of it.
