That's why I still hope the next series goes back to the "deeper" plots of old.
It's kind of worrying in a way, that the new guy is quitting so soon.
The Doctor (and all other Time Lords) only gets 12 regenerations before he just dies. We blew the 8th one on a film and the ninth is only staying for a single series.
Also, we know what happens to the Doctor somewhere bewteen his 12th and 13th generation (remember that valeyard guy who put him on trial at the end of Colin Baker's series?)!!
And now the next series will require a TENTH doctor to carry on, and then what if HE quits after just one series???
THE SHOW IS COMING TO AN END!!!! :-O
:-D
Then again, who knows where the future's taking us?
Someday we'll be able to use CGI to make "missing adventures" of previous doctors using models of actors that don't exist anymore...
Hmmm... and then the technology will make it's way to amatures.
Those people who make Manga and Hentai, they're not going to have to stick to cartoons anymore! :-O
The episode was very good

I think she does alright to be honest.

I don't think the audience will be the same as the 60's hay-day, but it's gonna have a big enough fan base.
The episode was good, some SFX that were much better than the corn ball, 'rubber dinosaur', type animation from the 70's. There was some good acting and I liked the aliens.
Billie Piper looked particularly nice in the scene where the Sun had forced here to strip down to a vest (on the top half) I live in hopes that one day they'll release the Dr Who porn series spin-offs :) Just ... no old sidekicks, "wrinkles ain't my thang" (Elvis)
First episode - everyone talking about it.
Second episode -quiet.
Me? I thought it was great, much of an improvement over the pilot. And what's this about the last Timelord? Something coming up later, methinks.
Also, after seeing this week's Hustle, Ronald Pickup would make a great Master.
Anyway, this week's Dr Who looks like it should be pretty action packed...
The star, who has appeared in television drama Cracker and hit film, Shallow Grave, is worried about being typecast.
He is also planning new projects and found filming the series gruelling.
In a statement issued through the BBC, Eccleston said: “The audience’s response for the new Doctor Who has been incredible and I am really proud to be part of it and I hope viewers continue to enjoy the series.”
Former pop star, Billie Piper, will return in the role of the Time Lord’s assistant, Rose, in the next raft of shows.
Meanwhile, the BBC confirmed it was in talks with actor David Tennant, the star of the drama Casanova, which is currently showing on BBC3, as a possible replacement for Eccleston.
Earlier today, the BBC announced it had commissioned the second series.
The corporation is also planning a Dr Who Christmas special, which will feature Eccleston, following the sci-fi show’s triumphant return on Saturday.
Jane Tranter, BBC head of drama commissioning, said she made the decision yesterday.
Dr Who launched its new 13-part run this weekend on BBC1, following a 16-year hiatus.
With 9.9 million viewers, it successfully beat the might of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
The lead writer on the new Doctor Who series, Russell T Davies, will also write the Christmas special.
