Nah, they can just invent some plot device to cheat and reset the regenerations or something.
And I get what you're saying about having a whole story squeezed into just fifty minutes or whatever. That said I think upcoming episodes are going to be more serialised.. from looking at the cast lists there's going to be several recurring characters.
Edit: Oh and Richard E Grant gets my vote for the next one. Don't know if it's just me but David Tennant just seems really young :S
