Pokemon. A natural born fad. But did you guys know that Pokemon was first released in 1988?? Nintendo have just improved it. But do you think that they are going too far with all the merchandise??

Pokémon is quite a complex game! I think in Gold/Silver there are 17 types of Pokémon. It's hard to remember which attacks are best against all the different types....and what the attacks actually do, etc.

It's not a childs game, but you're right it is highly addictive and I love the Pokémon games! I was playing the TCG on the Gameboy this morning! I've almost beaten the game.

Actually Pokémon wasn't that popular on the N64 because the N64 game was too repetative.

It was the Gameboy that benefited, not the N64!

Yep. I think that we have come to a conclusion. If it wasn't for Pokemon the N64 would be a doomed mudaf**ker

Let me check a minute....I may have misread the report....I've got an official one here.....

Actually you're right about that:

The Gameboy games were originally released in Japan in February 1996

The TV cartoon series was April 1997

The series was released in Japan before the game?

Some how I doubt that. The game was released in Japan years ago. I think that we got the show before the game but in Japan the games came first.

If you read my previous message, you'll realise that the games were created first, however before the games were released in 1996, the cartoon series was shown, then it became a worldwide franchise which seemed to brainwash kids all over the world.

Doesn't stop me being a huge fan though!

Infact they were printed in Satoshi Tajiri's magazine called Gamefreak then! (1982) Satoshi Tajiri created the whole concept of training 'virtualpets' and battling them on the Gameboy, and Ken Sugimori, who Satoshi worked with closely, drew them for him.

If you want to see the original pictures, take a look in the Pokémon Blue/Red manuals.

Either way it's a pity that most people think that the Pokemon games were based on the franchise.

Newspapers STILL don't know anything about games...
