Flight of the phoenix - well i didn't really think much of this remake, why the feck do people have to try to remake a film that was already good? the original is far far better but any bet half the morons that have gone and seen the new film don't even relise that there was a film that it's based on.
They kept the basic story the same, plane crashes and they build a new one out of the olf parts. but huge parts where changed like theres no german guy anymore sure they have the anal designer but he's not german and most of the dialogue in the original was far better because of the raciest undertones, allowing the viewer to know tthat the dislike was on a deeper level with out it ever being said.
I understand that this is ment to be a updating of the film and so the inclusion of numurous races, but why did they include a woman? they didn't change the story so much that there is any romance and so the womans kind of a pointless inclusion.
The main characters that are missing form the first film are the 2 army men, one sargent and a private i think it was, in the first film these 2 had there ranking relationship and as it breaks down the film develops well it deals with cowardess and stress but these are left out of the new film.
I don't think this is a good remake but then i haven't found most remakes live up to the originals they are based on.
EDIT: Forgot to mention the ending and yeah it will spoil it for you but pfft.... If you have seen the original it doesn't matter, in the new one they just fly off in to the sunset not like the classic were you get to see that they make it. I thought this was a naff ending for the film and only let it down more.

I'm thinking of a film from the 50s, with Denholm Elliott (I think), and the crash a bomber in North Africa during WW2, then spend the film trying to find ways to communicate, survive, contemplating life, etc. Then it turns out the were dead all along.
