One of the things I liked about Dr Who was the tackiness of the SFX etc. Im just not sure if this new series will work for me. Although I've heard that the Daleks are going to be in it at some point. It'll be worth watching just for that IMO.

Yes.

For a pilot episode.

Though it's strange watching a whole story in 45 minutes when you've previously been used to seeing 4 parters. Still, some 2 parters on their way as well, with proper old-fashioned cliff hangers...

Worth watching for that scene alone.

Not long to wait now for the new series...

...despite the fact I've already seen the first episode, I'm still glad it's back...

At 2.10pm.

Sorry. I'll stop now.

Anyhoo, to the original question. Tom Baker will always be the doctor for me. Perhaps Peter Cushing in Daleks' Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D. (What a glorious movie title. "They obviously have advanced technology", as he's holding a circuit board similar to something I made in GCSE electronics) but Ecclesons looking good. All the weirdness and humour to a tee.

[edit] Just checked out DIA2150AD on imdb, and read "a ridicolous scene with Bernard Cribbens trying to blend in with fellow robomen" that's had me crying laughing. Top stuff.
