What are the best games. And in your honest opinion would it be suitable for my 6 year old son for his birthday?
The reason i ask these questions is that i was never a fan of the GameBoy and i was wondering if the hype is justified.
If there are any independant games shops have a look in there, they may have some.
Expect around £120 for the GBA and a game, roughly.
Just to let you know, the import copy of Advance GT i've got is all in english, except the initial screen. I was quite surprised. Some of Mario is in english as well.
Is there any difference between that and the Euro version?
i.e games, voltage etc.
I ask this because my sons birthday is 20 days before the release and it would be nice to get it any earlier.
I bought the GBA from an independant games shop in leicester, it's an import from Japan.
New Jimmy, the things you mention arent major problems. The screen isn't back lit, this means you cant play it in the dark. It's not a major hassle and it does mean the batteries last 15 hours, compared to the 10 of the original GB.
The graphics are very imprssive considering the screen is so small. I've only got Super Mario and Advance GT at the moment. Mario is in 2D and it looks about as good as you can get in 2D.
Advance GT is like Gran Turismo, excpet none of the tracks have gradient, which does feel strange but it doesnt affect the gameplay at all.
To sum up, they are a good buy if you can afford it. The graphics cant possibly live up to what people are used to now, DC PS2 etc, but it doesnt matter. As long as you buy good games, they are so engrossing you dont notice they dont look as good as GT3 etc.
I have Super Mario and Advance GT. Although it is supposed to be more powerful than a SNES, the games dont look as good, simply because the screen is too small.
Having said that, the 2 games i have are great fun, with more to come. Its already been said that you can play all the old GB and GBC colour games, so there will be lots of Pokemon titles available already, with an added bonus that you can pick up GB titles from about a tenner.
All in all, it's a good buy and i'd recommend it.
