Theres quite alot of sequels but seeing as I haven't played the first game of the sequel I dont know whether i'll like them or not.
So, can somebody help me choose the best games this Xmas by listing what would be your top 5 games to buy for Xmas. This excludes imports and games that come out after Xmas, they have to be out in the UK before Xmas.
Halo 2 is great but I haven't played it for a whole day (OMG!!) and dont really feel like playing it tonight so i'm sure it wont keep me entertained for long.
GTA San Andreas came out a month ago and even though I still like it I dont play it as often and I definately need a new game to play.
I'm thinking about a platformer, the last platformer I played was Crash Bandicoot on the Xbox which (suprisingly) was quite fun even though I completed it quickly. I want a pretty hard platformer, the new Ratchet and Clank looks good along with Jak 3 and a few others.
I dont really want Killzone so dont bother putting that in the list, it looks alright but I dont think i'll enjoy it. It's a shame they haven't released a new SSX or NBA Street because I love them games so much and if I got them both at Xmas i'd be so happy. This year seems boring, maybe i'm just being lazy and aren't searching around for games but there doesn't seem to be anything that i'm really exited about.
Quite a few games that I was looking forward to have been delayed like Splinter Cell, Doom 3, Half Life 2 etc. But there must be some good games coming out this Xmas, there always is.
Prince of Persia was okay when I got it but I got bored quite quickly so I dont really want the second installment.
If there isn't any decent games coming out that i'd like then I think i'll have to go for an older game that I haven't got and that everyone thinks is good.
So, if you could help me choose some games i'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

IGN is normally very good.

Jak is the greatest game of PS2 this year, no matter what anyone else says.
Cheers guys, you've all just reminded me of some really good games.
I've come up with a list now, but can only choose 2 out of it :
Ghost Recon 2
Sega Superstars
WWE Smackdown vs Raw
Jak 3
Ratchet and Clank 2
Ghost Recon 2
Since i've got Halo 2 this might not impress me but i'll look at some previews to get some more opinions.
Sega Superstars
This or EyeToy Play 2, they wont keep me entertained for long but they'll be very fun on Christmas Day and keep me busy until I go back to school.
WWE Smackdown vs Raw
ARGH.
I know that if I still loved wrestling this would be at the top of my list but I dont like Wrestling anymore and haven't since 1999 (ish) so i'm not sure. It looks good but will it be good enough.
Jak 3
Never played any of the Jak games but this one looks much more 'mature' and I haven't played a platformer since Crash Bandicoot on the Xbox. This might be the game that goes on my list...
Ratchet and Clank 2
It is the second one isn't it? Or is there three? Ah well, it's the newest one im interested in. I'm gonna read a few reviews in a minute for this and Jak 3 as I need to know more about them.
I dont really want a game mainly based on online modes, I want a single player game taht'll keep me interested. I dont want to go online on Xmas Day, I want to be downstairs on the Cinema TV playing a decent offline game.
1. Goldeneye Rogue Agent
2. Jak 3
3. Half life 2 on pc, if you don't have it already
That's all because the 4th one in my head is prince of persia 2, but you don't want that.
> Killzone
> I meant range of playable characters...
4, ranging from 3 ISA operatives specialising in stealth, heavy weapons and all-rounder respectively, and one ex-Helghast specialising in Helghast weaponry. Which one you chose dictates your route through the game e.g. the stealth operative can snipe better than any of the others, she can climb into ducts that others can't to ambush the enemy from an airshaft, the heavy weapons specialist can't move fast but his assault cannon kinda makes up for it, your kills per bullet ratio will go up a lot if you use Helghast weapons with the Helghast character rather than equipping him with ISA weapons, that kinda thing.
> Environments?
> I meant levels you can play on...
Shipyard, Government Buildings, Gardens, Jungle, Trenches, Courtyards, Train Station, Slum Streets, basically 11 levels, 26 stages, 21 weapons (each with secondary fire modes).
It's basically the best looking shooter I've played, ever. (I like the realism and weapons handling aspects). I've been playing builds of it since November 2003, now just waiting to get my hands on the final version out on 26th. (8 days to go!). Offline I prefer it to SOCOM by a long shot, online I've yet to see how it handles in a 'live' environment so can't comment (but it was a lot of fun in closed).
In short, do not let anyone, including yourself, talk you out of buying this game.

FFX-2 didn't look too good, neither did 8.
