i thought id bring out the old one to get warmed up for the second but come to a in compatablity error and it cannot verify the disk. ps. i tried the right chick change compat. and it is a real copy. is they anything i could download? i looked around the web and came up with nothing.

Just patch it to the lastest version and all will be fine.

Quickest way is to install steam, register the CD Key and it will automatically update HL for you

Have you installed the latest patch for it? That may clear up some issues. I've had my copy run perfectly on XP Home.
