No, that's wrong. You don't have to pay a license if you can prove that you only use the TV for DVD/VHS, but they put you through hell before they will relent.
For the Internet it's much easier to tell if someone's using the internet or not, because they're paying an ISP. Putting VAT on subscription bills is a more feasible idea.
Can I spell?
Perhaps a VAT style tax on ISP's would be more realistic, but I can't see myself liking that either! :-)
Surely we already pay the government tax when we buy the damn computer anyway.
Also what about people who have PCs but dont use them for the internet? They are paying tax for something that they can't use.
I say we introduce t-shirt and scarf tax.
